Marlins Walk It Off for 59th Win of Season
|
The Miami Marlins beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 10-9, at Marlins Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman C.J. Cron, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-7 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The Marlins saw their win-loss record go to 59-81. At the same time, the Phillies fell to 80-59.
The Marlins got a big at-bat from left fielder Alex Gordon. For the game, Gordon went 1 for 7. In the bottom of the 15th, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 45th hit of the season gave Miami a 10-9 lead.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Gordon.
