Mets Turn Back Boston, 10-8
|
The inspired effort of Boston catcher Cesar Puello was not enough to prevent a 10-8 loss to the New York Mets. Puello went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Tanner Rainey, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities. New York is now 73-89, Boston 83-79.
The Mets got a big at-bat from third baseman Travis Shaw. For the game, Shaw was 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 37th home run of the season gave New York a 2-0 lead.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Shaw told the New York Citizen.
