Diamondbacks Lose to Astros, 9-5
|
Getting a good performance from first baseman Dominic Smith, the Houston Astros defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 9-5. Smith was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 4 runs for the Astros. Jose A. Ramirez earned his 2nd save in 8 chances. Arizona, at 68-82, has lost 4 straight.
The Astros got a big at-bat from catcher Welington Castillo. For the game, Castillo was 1 for 2 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 99th hit of the season gave Houston a 6-5 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Castillo told the Houston Chronicle.
