|
Cleveland beat Boston on the strength of starter Jimmy Nelson's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 5-3 win. Cleveland reliever Brian Duensing got the win, raising his record to 1-3. Oliver Drake was tagged with the loss. The Indians are now 66-89, while the Red Sox fall to 80-75.
Had Eric Hosmer not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Hosmer hit a 2-run double. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Indians.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Nelson told the Cleveland Citizen. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
