Late Rally by Mariners Secures Win
Texas got a terrific performance from pitcher Jon Lester, but it wasn't enough to beat the Seattle Mariners. Seattle won the Safeco Field contest, 2-1. Lester was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball. After today's action, Seattle sits at 68-92, while Texas falls to 97-63.

The Mariners were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when third baseman Kris Bryant turned a first pitch fastball from Jon Lester into a 2-run home run. The walk-off home run sent a roar through the crowd and gave Seattle a thrilling 2-1 win.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Seattle manager Jeff Clement. "Our pregame was pretty good."
