Rasmus Hits 2 home runs in Reds Win
|
The Cincinnati Reds trumped the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-1, at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati left fielder Colby Rasmus was named player of the game for his performance. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Cody Reed picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 1 earned run on 4 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 2-0. The Reds have an impressive 99-62 record.
Rasmus contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Cincinnati in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Rasmus took a curveball from Nick Kingham and stroked the home run to right-center. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Reds to leap in front, 2-1.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Pittsburgh manager Corey Wehr.
