Yankees Turn Back Toronto, 4-2
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Toronto Blue Jays home opener. Clayton Kershaw started for the home team against Zack Greinke for the New York Yankees. The Blue Jays were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 4-2, New York. Zack Greinke was named player of the game. Martin Perez picked up the save, his 1st.
Willie Calhoun aided the New York cause with a 2-run double in the top of the third. For the game, the left fielder went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 3 runs.
Toronto manager Ryan Hicks said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
