The Texas Rangers inaugurated the 2018 campaign with a disappointing 8-5 loss to the Houston Astros at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Houston third baseman Kris Bryant had a big impact on the outcome. He was 2-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Luis M. Castillo was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. A.J. Minter recorded his 1st save for Houston.
