Nationals Squelch Braves Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Washington Nationals topped the Atlanta Braves, 3-0, with third baseman Yulieski Gurriel playing a big role. Gurriel went 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs for the Nationals in the win. Nathan Karns picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed no earned runs on 3 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 8-2. David Robertson got the save, his 3rd in 3 chances.
Gurriel had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the fourth inning, when he hit a solo home run. The Nationals went on to win.
In postgame comments to the Washington Observer, Gurriel said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
