Padres Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Rockies
|
The Padres faced a stiff challenge from Colorado pitcher CC Sabathia, but persevered to claim a win at Coors Field. The final score was 6-5. Sabathia went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Blake Parker picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Mauricio Cabrera was tagged with the loss. Josh Fields nailed down his 1st save.
Mitch Haniger, who leads the NL in RBI with 24, chipped in for San Diego with a solo home run in the top of the eighth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Colorado manager Rex Shuck. "The effort was great."
The Rockies fall to 9-15 and continue to sputter in the early going.
