Blue Jays Edge Mariners, 5-4
|
Toronto rode a decent outing from starter Clayton Kershaw to victory over the Seattle Mariners at Rogers Centre. The final score was 5-4. Toronto reliever Emilio Pagan picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Jim Johnson absorbed the loss. Toronto is now 24-12, 3 games up in the American League East Division.
Had Austin Hedges not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hedges hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Blue Jays.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Kershaw.
