| Nationals Come Back Late, Nip Yankees | The New York Yankees got a sterling performance from pitcher Nick Tropeano, but the Nationals still prevailed, 6-5. Tropeano was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of shutout ball. The Nationals bumped their record to 24-18 with this latest triumph.
Washington took a 6-5 lead on Andrew Benintendi's 11th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off New York pitcher Wade Davis in the bottom of the ninth.
"Put a star next to this win," Benintendi said.
