The Cardinals got a big at-bat from center fielder Brett Phillips. For the game, Phillips was 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave St. Louis a 2-0 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Martinez told the St. Louis News.
