| Pirates Bang Out 7-2 Win Versus San Diego | The Pittsburgh Pirates stopped the San Diego Padres, 7-2, behind an impressive performance from Jay Bruce. The 31-year old right fielder made life miserable for San Diego pitching. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Nick Kingham picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-2. He struck out 3 in 7 innings. Pittsburgh has now won 4 straight.
Bruce had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth inning, when he hit a 2-run single. The Pirates went on to win.
"Enjoyed this one," Bruce told the Pittsburgh Herald. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
