No Late-Season Magic Coming: New York Out of Playoffs Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018 New York Yankees starting pitcher Zack Greinke said it is a "bitter disappointment" for he and his teammates to miss the playoffs. The remarks came hours after the club was mathematically eliminated from 2018 postseason contention. New York last appeared in the postseason in 2015. This is their 3rd consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 74 times in their 117-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Yankees have missed the playoffs 4 times. New York last won the World Series in 2009. |
