Thrilling Win Pushes Los Angeles to Next Round Friday, October 5th, 2018 Only one team can eventually be crowned World Series champions and the Los Angeles Angels took a big step toward that tonight with a 6-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays in the Wild Card Game. "The thought of our season being over if we lose a single game was motivating, so it wasn't hard to get pumped up for this one," said Los Angeles right fielder Nick Markakis, who had 3 hits in 5 at bats to lead his team to victory. In a brief interview after the loss, Tampa Bay manager TJ Barnaba congratulated Los Angeles on the win and wished the club luck in the rest of the playoffs. The Los Angeles Angels will play against the Toronto Blue Jays in the next round. Toronto had a bye in the Wild Card Game. The Division Series is scheduled to begin on October 5th, 2018.
