The club's efforts at building a championship contender fell short this year, as the team was officially eliminated from playoff contention today. This is the club's 3rd playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 2015. In the last 10 seasons, the Pirates have missed the playoffs 7 times. In total, the Pirates have missed the playoffs 134 times in their 146-year history. Pittsburgh last won the World Series in 1979. |
