Royals Out of Time, Out of Playoffs Sunday, September 16th, 2018 The Kansas City Royals will have to put any fleeting championship aspirations on hold for the time being. The Royals were mathematically eliminated from contention for the 2018 playoffs today. Kansas City last appeared in the postseason in 2015. This is their 3rd consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 45 times in their 49-year history.
