Superb Year for Vargas, Wins Most Valuable Player Award

Kennys Vargas of the Lynchburg Hillcats had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Most Valuable Player Award for 2018.

The 28-year-old first baseman put up a .416 average and a .543 on-base percentage, piling up 162 hits, 22 doubles, no triples, 52 home runs, 154 RBIs and 142 runs scored.

He received 24 first place votes out of a possible 30. Blake Gailen of the Lakeland Flying Tigers finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Stephen Cardullo of the Lakeland Flying Tigers finished third with 3 first place votes.
