Birk Torches Red Sox for 5 Hits
Sunday, August 19th, 2018
Ryne Birk had an answer for everything the Salem Red Sox threw at him today at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. The Lakeland second baseman went 5-for-7 in the game to put his name in the record book and put the Flying Tigers on top, 18-1.
Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Birk said, "I just see the ball and I hit it."
Ryne Birk singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Mauricio Rodriguez in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run triple in the 5th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
This season Birk has hit 18 home runs and posted a .401 batting average.
