Rockies Stumble, Lose to Blue Jays
|
The exploits of first baseman Josh Bell, who led the AL in triples with 12 last year, helped the Toronto Blue Jays defeat the Colorado Rockies, 10-0. Bell was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Kendall Graveman got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and no runs, while striking out 2 and walking 0. Toronto is now 28-31.
Toronto relied on the hitting of Yoenis Cespedes to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 3-0. For the game, Cespedes had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Toronto manager Ryan Hicks.
