Despite a fine performance by center fielder Whit Merrifield, the Minnesota Twins suffered a 4-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. Merrifield went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Jesse Chavez, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 4-3. Andrew Kittredge got the save, his 5th in 8 chances.

The Milwaukee triumph was a team effort. Not least among the contributors was Gary Sanchez. In the bottom of the second, the Milwaukee catcher hit a 2-run home run. It staked his team to a 2-1 lead.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Minnesota skipper Al Wehr, "and it cost us."

Milwaukee goes to 76-45. The win puts them 14½ games up in their division.
