Streak Finally Over, Ravelo Held Hitless Sunday, April 28th, 2019 Late in the game, all eyes in Security Service Field were on Rangel Ravelo as he stepped into the batter box. His 22-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Ravelo, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end. If there was a silver lining for Ravelo today, it was that his Colorado Springs Sky Sox won the game anyway, stopping the Memphis Redbirds by the score of 9-5. "Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Ravelo told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 22 straight games. It's something I will always remember." This season Ravelo is hitting .474 with no home runs. |
