Chihuahuas End Tovar's Streak Monday, May 13th, 2019 It was the best of both worlds for the El Paso Chihuahuas today at Louisville Slugger Field, as they defeated the Louisville Bats 5-3 and also snapped Wilfredo Tovar's 22-game hitting streak. The 27-year-old Louisville shortstop failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Tovar, we just wanted to win the game," said Chihuahuas skipper . "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Tovar frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." This year Tovar has hit at a .301 pace and produced 7 RBIs, 1 home run and scored 16 runs. |
