Escobar Belts Bunch of Base Hits Saturday, August 10th, 2019 Alcides Escobar exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Coca-Cola Field. The Durham shortstop had a field day in the 15-5 triumph over the Buffalo Bisons, finishing 5-for-7. "My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Escobar must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Alcides Escobar singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th. For the season Escobar is currently batting .286 with 5 home runs and 74 RBIs. In 105 games he has reached base at a .336 rate and scored 56 runs to date. |
