Reds Edge Pirates, 4-3
|
The Cincinnati Reds turned back the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-3, at PNC Park. Trea Turner was named player of the game for his fine performance. He went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Ken Giles was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 19 of 20 save opportunities. Cincinnati now has a 3-game win streak.
Turner had a big at-bat with a runner on 1st in the top of the first inning, when he hit a double. The Reds went on to win.
Pittsburgh manager Corey Wehr said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
