|
The Texas Rangers beat the New York Yankees, 8-5, at Yankee Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter Eric Thames, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Anthony Swarzak got the save, his 26th in 29 chances. Texas is now 75-45, 8 games up in the American League West Division.
Danny Valencia aided the Texas cause with a 3-run home run in the top of the first. For the game, the first baseman went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Thames told the Texas Today.
