Yankees Nip Blue Jays, 7-6
|
The New York Yankees overcame a good performance by Toronto center fielder Keon Broxton to knock off Toronto, 7-6, at Yankee Stadium. Broxton was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Reliever Justin Masterson picked up the win. His record improves to 8-2. Marcus Stroman took the loss. Edinson Volquez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.
The Yankees got a big at-bat from center fielder Manny Margot. For the game, Margot went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 5th home run of the season gave New York a 6-2 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Margot. "And not try to do too much."
The Yankees bumped their record to 66-57 with this latest triumph.
