Victory Pushes Cubs Record to 7-5
|
The Chicago Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates, 7-3, at Wrigley Field. Chicago left fielder Justin Upton was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The Pirates, at 3-8, have stumbled out of the gate.
The game turned with one out in the bottom of the fourth when Upton, who is tied for 2nd in the NL with a .780 slugging percentage, hit a 2-run home run. It propelled the Cubs into the lead, 2-0.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Upton said after the game.
